Welcome to the Colorado Code For Communities Ideas forum. Please submit ideas for apps, visualizations and other products that can be built by teams during the hackathon weekend of July 27th to the 29th. These products should be built on data that is readily available. If you know of a dataset that can support your idea, please add that in your description or in the comments. Also, check out http://codeforcommunities.org for more information.

Vote a bike lane into existence
Build an app, that each time it's loaded, makes a note for wherever the app's user is. It's just a vote app. Load it, you voted. If the user wants, the user can also write a note about why a bike lane would be useful in that location.
This information is then published online. Every vote also automatically sends an email to the listed city representative (so we'd need a lat/long lookup table for the Denver Metro region, which correlates location to city representative), letting them know about it.

Location of available parking places at DIA
When drive to DIA finding a parking place often takes quite a bit of driving around, adding that level of anxiety about getting to your plane without a glitch.
Wouldn't it be great to know how many parking spaces are available in a given lot and where those parking places are located?

DMV Wait Time App
I hate nothing more than walking into the DMV, pulling ticket C534, then looking at the wall LED display and seeing that their currently on C472. It would be nice to have an app that shows you the current number and the amount of numbers presently in cue. Maybe even track historical data to show the slowest days or best time of day so that infrequent DMV goers don't get stuck in line for 2 hours. Would be helpful for businesses such as car dealerships and car rental companies who frequent the DMV.

Deploy Open311
311 is available in the region, but is not built on open standards. If we deployed Open311 in Denver, we would have more ways of connecting to new apps developed by other civic hackers or government entities. For more info: http://open311.org
